I.O. 15 10 – OUR POLICY ON WOOD PALLETS

I.O. 15 10 – OUR POLICY ON WOOD PALLETS

I.O. 15 10 – OUR POLICY ON WOOD PALLETS

On our production lines and in areas where our production is carried out, the presence of wood other than new pallets is not permitted.

CRITERIA ACCORDING TO THE ASSESSMENT OF PALLET CONFORMITY

Size: pallets must have an adequate size for the reel so that the reel can be placed on top of it. Pallets from which the coils overhang in either length or width are to be considered inadequate since the material may be damaged during transport.

Sturdiness: pallets must have a weight resistance suitable for the weight of the reel to be packaged and shipped. If the reel exceeds 300 kg in weight, the use of an EPAL or similar is required.

Integrity: pallets must be free of splinters, chips, missing parts, protruding nails and/or cracks. They must appear perfectly intact as in the image shown.

Hygiene: pallets must be perfectly dry, odorless and free of traces, stains or dirt on the surface. They must not contain mold, dust or cobwebs.

INPUT PALLETS FLOW

Pallets enter our company in 3 different ways:

1. c/o THIRD PARTIES ALONG WITH OUR CUSTOMER’S MATERIAL: Laminati Cavanna uses MAG to check the integrity and conditions of the pallets on which the coils are positioned on receipt of goods. If any non-compliance is detected in the pallets, the material will be placed in the unloading area of our company and one of our employees will replace the damaged pallet with a compliant one. MAG will have to note this non compliance on the delivery note in order to subsequently charge the customer with the cost of the replaced pallets.

2. INDIRECT PURCHASE (RAW MATERIAL): for each purchase of raw material, Laminati Cavanna indicates the following on the purchase order: “The material must be packed on new, intact, sturdy, dry pallets, free of mold or any kind of defect“. If any non-compliance is detected in or on the pallets, MAG notifies the non-compliance to RAQ. MAG will have to note this non compliance on the delivery note in order to subsequently charge the Supplier the cost of the replaced pallets. (REMEMBER TO INSERT THE ABOVE MENTIONED SUGGESTED SENTENCE ON ALL PURCHASE ORDERS)

3. DIRECT PURCHASES: Laminati Cavanna purchases from its qualified supplier pallets to pack our finished product rolls or otherwise reuses the pallets of the raw material if they are in good hygienic conditions, free of traces of mold, without protruding nails and perfectly intact. Pallets are stored in a covered area of our warehouse.

INTERNAL HANDLING

The pallets are used internally for transporting raw material from the warehouse area to the removal area. Wooden pallets cannot enter neither the solvent nor the solvent-less production area unless they are pallets used to hold and store aluminum.

In the case that reels of laminated products need to undergo a cutting process, such reels will be sent to the cutting department without any pallets and positioned directly on polystyrene holders. After the cutting process, new pallets will be present for the palletization of the finished product once it has been cut and packed. The cutter (employee responsible for cutting) must check to make sure that the pallets are integral and well preserved.

DELIVERY

The reels produced in either the solvent or solvent-less department, which have already been covered with a transparent protective film, flow into the palletizing area. The reel is laid on a pallet after placing a layer of new corrugated cardboard and polystyrene holders if needed. The reel is then fixed on the pallet by either new and intact wooden wedges, or is held by wooden flanges which must also be new and intact. The reels will then either go in the warm room (for drying) or on the PRODUCTS TO BE SHIPPED shelves, packed with a new EURO pallet unless otherwise specified and agreed with the Customer.
